Genealogy is always a work in progress, from present to 1850 solid information can be found with census records, and other goverment and religious documentation. Befor then it gets increasingly difficult censuses 1790-1840 only give the heads of household goverment documents only give sparse information. Church records become increasingly important with the Quakers & LDS excelling in this area. Many problems arise while following the ancestrial trails poor penmanship, mispellings, errors made by enumerators, & deterioration of past records, errors made by transcribers that are digitaly trancription of these records, and of course family discord. Well what can one say of these linages have about 90% of the ancestry was in America pre-Revelutionary War. There's some of the earliest settlers to North America. Family members that have been involved in the making of United States history not so much found in the annuals but yet were still participants. Many were farmers but others were craftsmen, doctors, lawyers and yes even politicians. Although common folk in general these linages have shared with the great & not so great in building of a nation. Many stories if they could all be told. Plenty of hardships had occured disease, famine, devestating fires, and of course war. Some of America's greatest causes were supported the fight for indipendance, defense from hostile forces, support for the abolishment of slavery, as well as the fight for States rights. When one traces their roots it helps to view the perspective of the minds of that time period.
Many books have been written about some of theese branches such as the Struble's, Starns, and Livengood's. Amazing information if one could take the time to examine these books. Suggestion is to find a library that can obtain these books thoruogh inter-library lending system. One does not know what they're missing until they can read some of these books. Guarenteed you'll come out with a greater appreaciation of your heritage and the price that was paid for it to arrive to present day. Please sign the guest book if you find any interest in this site.
